About EEM

Since 1961, Eastern European Mission (EEM) has been providing God’s Word to the people of Eastern Europe in their own languages. For many years, EEM found ways to get the Bibles through The Iron Curtain. But “The Impossible Dream”– coined by missionary and founding team member Gwen Hensley – of giving the Bible to people in their own languages still remained. Hensley and his team witnessed the despair and destitution of the people in Eastern Europe first hand. Then in 1989, God brought The Wall down.

Now, EEM prints and delivers Bibles and Bible-based materials in more than 20 languages to over 30 nations in Eastern Europe, countries of the former communist bloc included. These Bibles and Bible-based materials are distributed to individuals, families, mission churches, campaign groups, children in youth camps, universities, public libraries, prisons, hospitals, orphanages and anywhere else needed – free to all.

As a veteran in the field, EEM knows the territory, and as sociopolitical governments and the dynamics in Eastern Europe have changed, so have EEM’s opportunities for reaching people. With the demise of communism and the birth of new freedoms, EEM has been able to gain easier access and is developing new materials and programs to share God’s Word with the people of Eastern Europe.

Million Dollar Sunday (MDS) is EEMs premier annual fundraising campaign designed to bring unity to the vast network of churches and ministries throughout Eastern Europe. MDS will continue to fund the distribution of Bibles and Bible-based materials to 30 nations in over 20 languages – free to all.
