The Million Dollar Sunday 2008
The Bible. In Public Schools. Now, in Ukraine.
It’s official. It’s a whole new country. EEM has been asked to place Bibles and
Biblical literature in all 1,188 Public Schools in the state of Donetsk (Donbass),
Ukraine. Students will be able to study the Bible in schools that taught Communism
not long ago. While we can’t even pray in American schools.
Previously, four states in Russia have asked and received Bibles for all of their
Public Schools. Now, another country is open.
It’s No Accident.
The fact is, EEM is in Russian and now Ukrainian schools. God keeps doing it. God
planned it. And right now, he has given us another truly divine opportunity.
EEM's Mission
Over 47 years ago, EEM began finding ways of getting the Bible through the Iron
Curtain. Today, EEM publishes and prints Bibles and Biblical materials in 20 languages,
throughout Russia, Ukraine and Eastern Europe. Now, we have an invitation to place
Bibles in all Public Schools in the state of Donetsk, Ukraine. With the completion
of this fifth school region, we will have reached 1.8 million Russian and Ukrainian
children in 8,138 Public Schools.
What You Can Do.
For only $840 you can provide an entire Biblical Library for a Ukrainian public
school, enough material for each student to study in class settings. That's an average
of about $3 per child. Or $30 for ten children. Or $90 per class. How many schools
do you want to reach? Ukraine has called.
The Opportunity.
We ask that you and your congregation provide a gift to help place Bibles and Biblical
literature in all 1,188 (366,000 students) Public Schools in the state of Donetsk,
Ukraine.
Previously completed school regions in Russia are:
- Omsk Region (2006) - 1,550 schools, 390,000 students
- Novosibirsk Region (2004) - 1,600 schools, 386,000 students
- Tomsk Region (2001) - 1,300 schools, 225,000 students
- Altai Region (1998) - 2,500 schools, 430,000 students
It all adds up to 8,138 schools and about 1.8 million students.
The Method.
EEM’s Biblical Library of materials is placed in each school’s library, which is
used by every class. We provide enough Bibles and materials for all students, each
getting personal copies to study during their class time. Additionally, the Bible
is also being integrated into classes on Art, History, Literature and Character.
Teachers are systematically being trained, through special EEM seminars, on how
to present the material.
The Literature.
Each school will receive an entire Biblical Library of materials including the following:
30 sets of age-appropriate Bibles
- 30 books - A Newcomer’s Guide To The Bible, plus 30 student study guides
- 30 sets of Biblical morality lessons
- The material is provided in both Russian and Ukrainian languages for each school.
As opportunities continue to arise throughout the country of Ukraine, EEM will be
there with the Bible. Because we want everyone to get it.
In the event this effort is oversubscribed,
EEM will allocate funds to provide Bibles and Biblical Literature to other families
and children in Russia, Ukraine and Eastern Europe.
